How to Reassign Serialized Codes to another Batch?

How to Reassign Serialized Codes to another Batch?

NotesTags are QR codes that allow users to verify product authenticity, earn loyalty points, and activate product warranties. Once scanned, the product is registered under the customer's name. Reassigning tags to a different batch ensures proper management of serialized codes for inventory or distribution purposes.

Steps to Assign/Reassign a Tag:

1. Navigate to ‘Reassign Tags’

  • Navigate to ‘Tags’ > ‘Reassign Tags’ on left side of the page.

2. Select Batch ID and Serial Number Type

  • Batch Selection:
    • Click the dropdown next to ‘Existing Batch ID’
    • Browse through the list of batches and select the desired batch.
  • Serial Number Type:
    • Click the dropdown under ‘Serial Number Type’ and choose between:
      • Range: Specify a range of serial numbers.
      • Comma Separated: Input specific serial numbers separated by commas.

3. Provide Serial Number Details

  • If ‘Range’ is selected, enter:
    • Start Serial Number.
    • End Serial Number.
    • Number of Items.

  • If ‘Comma Separated’ is selected, enter:
    • Serial Numbers separated by commas.
    • Number of Items.

4. Reassign Tags Options

You will see two options:
  • Reassign Tags to a New Batch.
  • Reassign Tags to an Existing Batch.

5. Reassign Tags to a New Batch

  • Select ‘Reassign tags to a new batch’ and provide the following:
    • Product: Choose the product for the new batch.
    • Batch ID: Enter a unique ID for the new batch.
    • Manufacturing Date (optional).

6. Reassign Tags to an Existing Batch

  • Select ‘Reassign tags to an existing batch’ and enter:
    • Product Batch ID: Choose the batch to reassign the tags.
    • Click ‘Move Tags’.

InfoNote: The serial number pattern must match the existing batch. Mismatched patterns will prevent reassignment.

Conclusion

By following these steps, you can efficiently assign or reassign serialized codes to another batch. Ensure the serial number pattern aligns with the existing batch to complete the process successfully.

FAQ

1. What are tags in Dyrect?

Tags are QR codes assigned to each product. When scanned, they allow customers to verify authenticity, earn loyalty points, and activate product warranties.

2. Why would I need to reassign tags?

Reassigning tags helps in managing inventory, correcting batch assignments, reorganizing product stock, or addressing errors in previously assigned batches.

3. Can I reassign tags from one product to another?

No. Tags can only be reassigned within the same product type. If the product differs, reassignment will fail.

4. What is the difference between ‘Range’ and ‘Comma Separated’?

  • Range: Used to move a sequence of serial numbers (e.g., 1001 to 1010).

  • Comma Separated: Used to move specific, non-sequential serial numbers (e.g., 1002, 1005, 1011).

5. Do the serial number patterns need to match?

Yes. Reassignment will only work if the serial number pattern matches the original batch. Mismatched prefixes or formats will cause errors.

6. Can I create a new batch while reassigning tags?

Yes. Select “Reassign tags to a new batch” and enter a new Batch ID to generate a new batch on the spot.

7. Is the Manufacturing Date required for reassignment?

No. It is optional. You may leave it blank if not needed.

8. What happens after I click ‘Move Tags’?

The selected serialized codes are immediately transferred to the new or existing batch you selected.

9. Can I undo or reverse a reassignment?

No. Once tags are reassigned, the action cannot be undone. You would need to perform another reassignment manually.

10. Will reassigned tags affect customer warranty or authenticity checks?

No. The QR code functionality remains the same. Only the backend batch grouping changes.

11. Can I reassign tags that are already scanned by customers?

No. Tags that are already scanned, registered, or used cannot be reassigned.
